Intel introduces 14th Generation Processors
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 has become the stage for Intel to showcase its latest technological marvels, particularly the new lineup of 14th generation processors. In this overview, we delve into the diverse offerings, from high-performance HX-series models to energy-efficient Core U Series for laptops and desktop solutions.
Intel's HX-series models take center stage with a focus on raw performance. The flagship Core i9-14900HX steals the spotlight, featuring 8 high-performance cores and 16 energy-efficient cores operating at an impressive 5.8 GHz. According to Intel, this powerhouse chip boasts a 17% increase in gaming performance compared to the AMD Ryzen 7945X3D and a staggering 51% improvement over the AMD Ryzen 7945HX in specific scenarios.
Not to be overshadowed, the Core i7-14700HX packs a punch with 20 cores, including 4 additional E-cores compared to its predecessor. These processors support up to 192GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, Thunderbolt 5, and advanced connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 (with a discrete module).
For thin and standalone laptops, Intel introduces the Core U Series processors. Leading the pack is the Intel Core i7 150U, equipped with 10 cores (2 P-cores and 8 E-cores) and operating at frequencies up to 5.4 GHz. The Core i5 120U shares the same core count but at a lower frequency, while the Core i3 100U features 6 cores with a frequency of up to 4.7 GHz.
Intel expands its desktop offerings with 18 new 14th generation Core processors. The Intel Core i9-14900 takes the crown, boasting 24 cores clocked at up to 5.8 GHz and priced at $549. In Intel's tests, the Core i9-14900 showcases a 6% improvement over its predecessor in League of Legends. Comparatively, it outshines the AMD Ryzen 9 7900, boasting a 15% advantage in the CrossMark test and an impressive 32% lead in Premiere Pro PugetBench.
Intel's latest processors not only push the boundaries of performance but also introduce cutting-edge features, setting the stage for a new era in computing. As CES 2024 unfolds, these innovations pave the way for enhanced computing experiences across a spectrum of devices.
