Arthritis Pill Now Helps Regrow Hair in Alopecia

Here's a drug repurposing story that actually has real numbers behind it. Upadacitinib , a pill already prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis, just showed it can help regrow hair in people with alopecia areata, the autoimmune condition that causes round, sudden bald patches. The drug works by blocking JAK enzymes, which are part of the signaling pathways that drive immune responses. That's the same mechanism that calms joint inflammation in arthritis, and it turns out it also seems to calm whatever's attacking the hair follicles in alopecia. Two Phase III trials, nearly 1,400 people total, looked at how many patients regrew enough hair to cover at least 80% of their scalp after 24 weeks. On the 15 mg dose, close to half got there. AI Companies Are Adding Watermarks to Generated Content, take note

AI companies are quietly adding watermarks to the stuff their models generate. Anthropic detailed how Claude will do it. New models from August 2, 2026 onward embed an invisible watermark straight into the text. You can’t see it, it doesn’t mess with the quality, and it usually survives copy-paste plus light editing. Images and other files get signed C2PA metadata so you can check the origin. Google’s been at this for a while with SynthID. It watermarks Gemini text by subtly shifting token probabilities and does the same across every frame of Veo videos. Same idea machine-readable signal that doesn’t ruin the output. Both moves are partly driven by the EU AI Act rules that kicked in.
